Ella and Lainey
Meet Dolly’s Puppies – Ella & Lainey! 🐾💕
These two little girls are every bit as sweet as they are adorable! Ella and Lainey came into our care alongside their mama, Dolly, after a good samaritan found the family and made sure they got the help they needed.
Dolly is a Border Collie mix, and while we don’t know who dad was, we’re pretty sure he was a big guy! These girls are growing into beautiful puppies with the intelligence and energy you’d expect from a working breed.
It took some time to get Dolly healthy and gaining weight, but when the puppies were just 4 weeks old, she became too ill to continue caring for them. Thankfully, Dolly has recovered beautifully, and both she and her girls are now thriving!
Because Ella and Lainey were separated from their mama at such a young age, they missed out on some important lessons in puppy manners. We highly recommend they join a home with a well-socialized adult dog who can help teach them appropriate dog manners. Experience with working breeds is a plus, and enrolling them in a basic puppy training class as soon as they’re old enough will help set them up for success.
These girls are fun, feisty, playful, and full of personality! They’re doing a fantastic job with pee pad training, but remember—they’re puppies! They’ll cry when left alone, chew on things they shouldn’t, and keep you on your toes. They have already become expert little “heelers” on their foster mom—following closely underfoot wherever she goes! Because of this typical puppy behavior, we are looking for homes without young children or anyone who has balance or mobility concerns, as they can easily become a tripping hazard.
In return, they’ll fill your home with endless love, laughter, and unforgettable puppy antics.
Ella and Lainey are currently available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program while they continue growing. To qualify for this you must live in Lubbock County. If your application is approved, you will pay a $100 non-refundable deposit to take one of these girls home. She must be brought back to the rescue for all scheduled vaccinations (you will be given a schedule) and also taken to her spay appointment which will be scheduled by rescue. Once the pup is fully vetted we finalize the adoption and at that time you pay the remaining $100 of the adoption fee. She is not fully vetted so cannot be taken to parks, on walks, or even Petsmart unless carried the entire time and not letting her feet touch the ground. The foster mom has worked hard to keep these girls safe and well and the rescue trusts the adoptive family’s to continue keeping them safe.
Ella and Lainey will be available Saturday from 11-2 at 8901 highway 87 building 119. You can also email adoptions.spspca@gmail.com with questions.
