Bentley is a 3-year-old, medium sized 30-pound husky/doodle mix with the softest heart and the saddest truth: he’s been waiting OVER A YEAR for his forever home. Not because he isn’t loving. Not because he isn’t good. But because Bentley is shy, sensitive, and needs time—and too often, dogs like him get overlooked.
Bentley has high anxiety and can be very reserved when meeting new people. He won’t run up to you right away or demand attention. What he will do is quietly watch, slowly trust, and—if given patience—become one of the sweetest, goofiest, most loving companions you could imagine. Once he feels safe, his funny personality comes out and he’ll happily curl up on the couch or enjoy playtime.
He is house-trained and crate-trained, but any dog can have accidents in new environments. He does well with dogs and cats when introductions are slow and thoughtful. He has not been around kids and their energy would probably not be a good match for him. Bentley doesn’t enjoy traveling or meeting unfamiliar dogs, so he’s looking for a quiet, stable home with someone who enjoys being at home and understands that love doesn’t always arrive instantly. A calm, confident resident dog could be a good fit, but what Bentley wants most is consistency and kindness.
Bentley has spent over a year waiting for someone to see past his fear and choose him anyway. He doesn’t need perfection—he just needs a chance. The kind of person who understands that the most meaningful bonds are sometimes the ones you have to earn.
