Thomas
Thomas is a young, long-haired, tuxedo boy who just happens to be blind. However, this does not hold Thomas back one bit! He lives his life with great trust and even greater adventure. He bravely cruises around whatever space he is in, looking for other cat-friends or food, or something to play with. He loves other cats and will require a friendly cat in his new adoptive home to “guide” him around and for companionship.
He makes little chirping noises to let you know he is there and to remind you to let him know you are there too. It is very sweet. He is very “paws on” when being held (this is one way in which he “sees”) which might be too much for small children, but an older child in a quieter house would likely be just fine for him. He will require a home that is stable and on the quieter side, someone less likely to move houses or rearrange things in the home. Thomas makes a map in his mind out of scent and memory, and if these things change too often, it can be destabilizing for him. He will need a human willing to tune into him and his special needs, which will require a bit more sensitivity and forethought than a sighted cat.
Thomas is a truly extraordinary boy and will bring great joy to a special, forever human!💕
Thomas is neutered and does require one more round of vaccines. He is eligible for our FTA program but you must live in Lubbock County in order to get him to his final appointment, which is covered by his adoption fee. He eats both wet and dry food in heavy raised bowls so he doesn’t tip them over. He drinks from a fountain so he can hear where is water is located.
If you are interested in meeting Thomas, email the South Plains SPCA at adoptions.spspca@gmail.com to set up a meeting.
He won’t be at adoption events, he is available for private meeting only.
